Thoughts and Suggestions from an Aging Psychologist.
A New Chapter for IPA
The International Psychogeriatric Association (IPA) is one of the most highly regarded organizations in the world that focuses on the mental health of the elderly. I recently wrote about my work with IPA and the global community of professionals who make up our membership.
Now I’m excited to share something new.
The IPA Mentorship Program
From July 1 through July 3, at the annual IPA Congress in Leiden, The Netherlands, IPA will launch a new and eagerly awaited Mentorship Program. This initiative will bring together professionals from multiple disciplines and cultures for the mental health care of the elderly.
The program will connect those who are well established in their careers with early-career clinicians, researchers, and elder service advocates for mutual support, encouragement, and growth.
The future of geriatric mental health is built through collaboration and shared wisdom.
How to Participate
Whether you are an experienced professional or just beginning your career, there is a place for you:
- Mentors — Share your expertise and help shape the next generation of specialists
- Mentees — Gain invaluable insights to navigate your career and achieve your professional goals
The Mentorship Meet-Up will take place during the 2026 IPA Congress in Leiden on July 2.
A Personal Honor
I am honored to serve as co-leader of this exciting program along with my colleague, Dr. Liat Ayalon. Together, we look forward to building a vibrant, inspired community dedicated to the mental health of older adults.
